I just love when the message is so clear that I can fill in my story to expand on what you've offered us today. Validation is crucial in a therapeutic relationship. Someone else who can witness your life and affirm (or inform) us that are feelings have merit. Getting that kind of response is so important. The first therapist who told me I was right to think that my family of origin was dysfunctional was the gateway I needed to travel through to begin to the work of healing my trauma. Thanks, Kate. Again and again!

Lots of life, and things that happen, and how people treat us, is really fucked up. It is so validating to hear that from an outside, informed perspective - that it was fucked up and it's ok that it was hard to navigate through. Dog bless good therapists who give us the space to realize this. Beautiful artwork as always <3
